چکیده

conclusions according to our multimodality imaging approach, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy was the most probable diagnosis. case presentation we describe a 73-year-old woman referred to us for consultation because of a giant negative t wave on her electrocardiography. echocardiography revealed diffuse severe hypertrophy associated with hypertrophied anterolateral papillary muscles with a bifid head and with extensive wall insertion into the apicolateral segment. three-dimensional echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance confirmed these data. importantly, automated function imaging determined the global longitudinal strain at -10.2%. introduction multimodality imaging can help rule in/out the diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (hcm) in patients with significant left ventricular (lv) hypertrophy.

Multimodality imaging in apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) is a relatively rare morphologic variant of HCM in which the hypertrophy of myocardium is localized to the left ventricular apex. Symptoms of AHCM might vary from none to others mimic coronary artery disease including acute coronary syndrome, thus resulting in inappropriate hospitalization. Transthoracic echocardiography is the first-line imaging techni...

Apical Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in a Case with Chest Pain and Family History of Sudden Cardiac Death: A Case Report

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most common genetic cardiovascular disease, which is caused by a multitude of mutations in genes encoding proteins of the cardiac sarcomere (1). Apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (AHCM) is an uncommon type of HCM. The sudden cardiac death is less likely to occur in the patients inflicted with AHCM (2). Herein, we presented the case of a 29-year-old man ...

Multimodality imaging of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in a transplanted heart.

A 66-year-old woman who had undergone heart transplan-tation 19 years ago for dilated cardiomyopathy presented to the ambulatory clinic with weight gain and worsening dyspnea on exertion. She had experienced an excellent post-transplant course that was free of significant rejection or graft dysfunction. The patient had undergone annual angiography with no evidence of significant epicardial coro...

Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Treated with Radiofrequency Ablation in a Patient with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: A Case Report

Standard therapy has not been established for thyroid cancer when a thyroidectomy is contraindicated due to systemic disease. Herein, we reported a patient who had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and papillary thyroid carcinoma treated by radiofrequency ablation because of inability to tolerate a thyroidectomy. Radiofrequency ablation can be used to treat thyroid cancer when surgery is not feasible...
